Wallingford HydroSolutions (WHS) is a vibrant, employee-owned company of dedicated professionals. Founded by staff from the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (UKCEH) in 2004, from inception, our vision has been to be a growing and good quality provider of focussed environmental solutions to facilitate the sustainable development and management of the UK’s infrastructure. We moved into employee-ownership in 2018 and became 100% employee owned in 2023. Our employees are at the heart of what WHS stands for and embrace the company’s values, including the commitment to make significant donations to WaterAid each year. We made our first corporate WaterAid donation of £36,500 in 2021 and are proud to continue our support for WaterAid this year, helping communities around the world achieve clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene. We have donated £30,000 to WaterAid in 2023 and renew our pledge to raise money for WaterAid each year to help reach the millions of people still living without the essentials they need to live dignified, healthy lives.

WHS is well known throughout the UK as the developer of industry standard hydrological tools and techniques. Over the years, we have grown to provide a comprehensive range of environmental consultancy services focussing on the water environment. We are passionate about using our robust analytical skills and national credibility to proactively help our clients realise their ambitions.

Our highly experienced team of scientists and engineers have a proven track-record in providing consultancy services encompassing the entire water cycle. Our integrated approach and breadth of experience means we deliver effective, well-informed solutions for each project that meet the multidisciplinary requirements of environmental regulation.

Our software packages are industry standard solutions. WHS was created by NERC as a spin-out company to deliver cost effective best practice science, to a wide range of users, in application focused tools. We provide Qube for the estimation of river flows within ungauged catchments and – working in collaboration with UKCEH – we are the providers of the WINFAP and ReFH2 modelling packages and develop and maintain the UKCEH FEH Web Service. WHS was part owned by UKRI/NERC for 19 years and we are proud of our proven track record of reinvestment to further the science and develop user focused software tools to address changing industry requirements and trends. WHS became 100% employee owned in 2023 and we pledge to continue that reinvestment.

WHS is committed to continuously improving company performance and customer satisfaction. We are proud of our ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification for the provision of environmental consultancy services, development of hydrological software and associated training. As a sustainable and environmentally conscious company, we aim to promote the concept of sustainable development, prevent pollution and minimise the environmental impact of our services.
