Location: Wallingford

Expertise: Head of Software

Contact number: 01491 822824

Your role in a nutshell: I’m responsible for our software, ensuring our hydrological research and software development team continue to enhance and expand our products to meet the growing needs of the industry. I’m also the director responsible for the company finances, operations and health and safety.

When you joined WHS: 2004

Your experience: I’m an experienced environmental scientist, with a wide range of experience in hydrological and water quality modelling. I’m a chartered water and environment manager and IEMA practitioner. I started my career within CEH before joining WHS in 2004. I’ve been a company director since 2010, and a trustee since 2018.

Why you like working for WHS:  I joined WHS at the inception of the company and have played a major role in the sustained growth of the company since then. We’re a small, close-knit team, I enjoy being part of our group of like-minded travellers. I love the variety of the projects I’ve worked on and that new challenges keep coming and keep the work interesting.

What drives you: I’ve always been fascinated by rivers since my high school field trip to the Isle of Arran. I love having the opportunity to be involved in the design and development of our software, maximising use of state of the art technology.

What you like doing when not working: My main hobby is hiking and I’ve travelled the world to visit new and exciting places to get out into nature. Climbing to the peak of the 5,000m Tsergu Ri in Nepal with magical views into Tibet is one of my favourite experiences. A relatively new interest is snorkelling, although I admit that I definitely prefer the warmer oceans to take a dip!
