WINFAP5 Release History
07 Oct 2025 - Version: 5.3.9411
Release notes:
- WINFAP 5.3 introduces the 2025 statistical model, which updates the estimation of both the index flood (QMED) and the growth curve. Urbanisation methods have also been updated.
- These methods rely on new descriptors from the FEH Web Service and NRFA Peak Flows datasets. For more information, see https://www.ceh.ac.uk/services/feh-2025-statistical-updates
- In addition, this release implements the non-flood years method through the addition of a Generalised Logistic non-flood years distribution.
- The software provides backwards compatibility with older projects using the 2008 statistical model, and while WINFAP 5.3 is designed to be used with Peak Flow Dataset versions 14 and above, earlier versions with a reduced descriptor set can be used. In these cases WINFAP automaticaly selects the 2008 method.
- Release 5.3.9399 includes performance improvements in opening WINFAP, clarification in the report of the urbanisation parameters for the 2025 method and amendment of the copy functionality from the QMED donor table to ensure values reflect those on the screen.
- Release 5.3.9403 corrects the adjustment to the L-CV when urbanisation is modified using the 'Edit Urban Parameters' dialog.
- Release 5.3.9411 corrects the selection of 'small catchment' reccommendations options. Users will not be allowed to select this for the 2008 method where catchments are greater than 40km2. For the 2025 method the misleading 'tick' for catchments less than 20km2 is removed.

05 Sep 2024 - Version: 5.2.9014
Release notes:
- WINFAP 5.2 introduces compatibility with the NRFA Peak Flow Dataset v13 and onwards.
- The Peak Flow Dataset v13.03 onwards includes, amongst other changes, timestamps for AM and POT data allowing improved identification of water years.
- After completing a pooled analysis WINFAP now no longer allows the editing of site descriptors.
- User comments can be added for sites imported from FEH Web Service descriptor files.
- Pooled analysis catchment descriptor histogram charts only include sites that may be included in the pooling group (depending on the criteria selected by the user).
- Minor bug fixes for UI glitches and presentation of rejected Annual Maxima years.

01 Oct 2021 - Version: 5.0.7944
02 Sep 2021 - Version: 5.0.7915
Release notes:
- Incorporation of the BFIHOST19 descriptor in QMED estimation.
- Implementation of the Small Catchment pooling group procedure and QMED donor adjustment.
- Addition of the Kappa 3 distribution for growth curve fitting.
- Updated application of urbanisation and deurbanisation adjustment procedures
- Pooling group L-moments can be deurbanised. This allows the estimation of the rural growth curve using as rural L-moments in the pooling group.
- L-moments from at-site data can be deurbanised, if required, prior to use in the Enhanced Single Site method to estimate the rural growth curve.
- Rural QMED for gauged sites is, by default, estimated by deurbanising at-site observed data.
- User settings for deurbanisation of data for QMED and the Growth Curve are now independent of one another.
