WINFAP 4 COVID-19 Support

With the impact of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak being felt by businesses across the UK, many people are likely to require a period working from home. Some of our users may need to temporarily install WINFAP4 on home-based PCs while their office-based PCs are not in use. Others may need to temporarily access WINFAP4 on their office PCs for use in tandem with other software, or where project data resides on the office PC or network.

WINFAP4 is licensed for use on a single PC and typically can only be used locally (see WINFAP4 Licensing). This is enforced by third party licence protection tools. We are able to offer the following options to enable your continued use of our software while working from home during this unprecedented COVID-19 situation.

Temporary installation on home-based PC

We can provide a new temporary serial number to enable you to run WINFAP4 on your home-based PC (limited to one home PC per licence). By using the temporary serial number you are confirming that WINFAP4 is not being used on your office PC.

Please contact our support team with your current serial number confirming that you require temporary licence assistance for installation on a home-based PC.

Once you have a temporary serial number, you will need to follow these steps:

  1. Install WINFAP4 on your home PC from here: WINFAP4 Download. This step requires Windows local administrator privileges; if you do not have these ask your IT department to grant you them or perform the installation for you.
  2. Launch WINFAP4 and enter the temporary serial number provided. It is crucial that you complete this step locally on your home PC. If completed by your IT department connecting from a remote PC, your home PC will be blocked.

Temporary remote access to office-based PC

We can provide a new temporary serial number to enable you to run WINFAP4 remotely, but it will be limited to use from one home PC logging into one office PC per licence. Colleagues logging into the same office PC remotely will not be able to use WINFAP4. Nor will you be able to use WINFAP4 locally on the office PC.

Please contact our support team with your current serial number confirming that you require temporary remote access licence assistance.

Once you have a temporary serial number, you will need to follow these steps. Steps 1 and 2 require Windows local administrator privileges; if you do not have these ask your IT department to grant you them or perform steps 1 and 2 for you.

  1. Uninstall WINFAP4 on your office PC using the Windows ‘Add or Remove Programs’ tool.
  2. Reinstall WINFAP4 on your office PC from here: WINFAP4 Download.
  3. Launch WINFAP4 and enter the temporary serial number provided. It is crucial that you complete this step logging in remotely from your home PC. If completed by your IT department or other colleague connecting from a different remote PC your home PC will be blocked.

As noted above, use of WINFAP4 will be limited to logging in remotely from your home PC. Colleagues logging into the same office PC remotely will not be able to use WINFAP4. Nor will you be able to use WINFAP4 locally on the office PC.

When you return to the office, you will need to repeat the process locally to uninstall and reinstall WINFAP4, then activate using your original serial number.
