We run training courses on the low flow hydrology and the flood estimation (FEH) national standard methodologies which incorporate the associated software modelling programs.

With tuition from the lead researchers in these methodologies you will receive a unique insight into the national standard methodologies and their application in low flow and flood modelling. You will gain hands-on experience with the software to enable you to get the most out of your modelling software.

  • Low Flow Hydrology
    • Our Basic Hydrology course teaches all the key principles of hydrology and provides a valuable foundation to new graduates entering the field and professionals moving into the field.
    • Our LowFlows course teaches the methodologies in the estimation of flow statistics in ungauged catchments and includes hands-on experience with the LowFlows software which incorporates these methodologies.
    • Tuition provided by Dr Andy Young who led the research in these methodologies and the development of the software.
  • Flood Estimation Handbook
    • Our WINFAP-FEH course teaches the FEH methodologies for estimating the flood frequency at ungauged sites. It includes hands-on experience with the WINFAP-FEH 2 software which incorporates the statistical procedures outlined in Volume 3 of the FEH Handbook.
    • Our ReFH course teaches the new revitalised FSR/FEH rainfall-runoff model methodologies for estimating design flood hydrographs and includes hands-on experience with the ReFH software.
    • Tuition provided by Dr Thomas Kjeldsen who is a lead researcher within the FEH team and authored the ReFH model and the accompanying FEH Supplementary Report No.1.

These courses are of particular benefit to practitioners who wish to gain understanding and practical experience in the latest software for resource estimation and flood estimation.
