ReFH software training

The date of the next course is yet to be confirmed. Please contact us to register your interest.

Course outline

This one-day course provides expert tuition in the revitalised FSR/FEH rainfall-runoff model, a new method for estimating design flood hydrographs. This model replaces and offers significant improvements over the original FSR/FEH rainfall-runoff method.

The course will enable you to get the most out of your ReFH software. With tuition from the lead researcher on the ReFH development team, you will gain hands-on experience and a unique insight into the ReFH methodology and its application in flood modelling.

Topics covered will include:

  • Why a ReFH model?
  • The ReFH model
  • Estimation of ReFH model parameters for gauged and ungauged catchments
  • Simulation of observed events
  • Simulation of design events
  • Limitations
  • Comparisons with other methods

Who should attend?

This course will particularly benefit practitioners who wish to gain practical experience and understanding of the latest ReFH software for design flood estimation. As all the key principles of the method are covered, the course will also provide a valuable introduction for those new to rainfall-runoff modelling.

Tutor

The course will be led by Dr Thomas Kjeldsen, who led the development of the new ReFH model and authored FEH Supplementary Report No. 1 detailing the background, methodology and application of the ReFH model.
