LowFlows

WHS is the licenced developer and distributor for the CEH Low Flows 2000 software.

The original Low Flows 2000 is the standard software system used by the Environment Agency and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency for providing estimates of river flows, as represented by annual and monthly flow duration statistics, for any river reach in the UK. The software and underpinning science have been widely published in the scientific literature.

The LowFlows Software System is now available in two versions to enable customers to purchase a version that is tailored to their use and functional expectations of the software.

As with any modelling package, it is strongly recommended that users seek training in the science of low flows and the estimation of low flows within ungauged catchments. We offer comprehensive training courses for the LowFlows software system and other aspects of hydrology.

In addition to the software we also offer an efficient flow retrieval service for the low volume user, or the user without experience in the estimation of river flows within ungauged catchments.

HydroTools

HydroTools provides a comprehensive suite of tools for analysing river flow data to support both water resource and flood management design. Using the current analysis modules, flow duration, flow frequency and base flow separation analysis can then be performed on any sub-set of daily flow data. The software also provides a convenient database for archiving hydrometric data that is ideally suited for the needs of the consultancy industry.

The Flood Estimation Handbook

The Flood Estimation Handbook (FEH), developed by the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology is a comprehensive set of guidance on rainfall and river flood frequency estimation in the UK.

The Handbook is supported by three software products:

  • FEH CD-ROM
  • WINFAP-FEH
  • ReFH

These software products facilitate the application of the methods within the Handbook. WHS is the sole appointed developer and distributor of the WINFAP-FEH and ReFH software products and is the appointed distributor for the FEH CD-ROM product and the Flood Estimation Handbook.
