Matt Fry BA (Hons) MSc

Matt Fry graduated from the University of Oxford with a degree in Physics and subsequently studied for an M.Sc. in Geophysics. Matt is a Microsoft-accredited software developer and has been a development manager within the water industry since 1998. During his time at CEH and now Wallingford HydroSolutions he has provided data analysis, software design, specification, development and training skills to clients within 20 countries and has produced systems with nationwide usage in the UK.

Matt's international work has primarily been on projects undertaken on behalf of the Department For International Development (DFID) and for the European Union, the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and the Environment Agency. The focus has been on developing databasing and subsequent analysis tools, primarily within the CEH HYDATA hydrometric system. Within the UK he has developed software for both the Flood Estimation Handbook (WINFAP Version 2 and ReFH spreadsheet and software) and the LowFlows software suit.

Matt has extensive experience of Windows software development, from specification through design, coding, testing, rollout, training, maintenance and upgrade. His skills cover programming in Visual Basic and.Net amongst other languages, and databasing with Access, SQL Server and ORACLE. He has managed the development of large GIS and database systems and has undertaken the implementation of scientific and statistical data processing, modelling, analysis and graphing.
